The keyboard should be compatible or have another version of the app compatible with iOS 8-8.4, as many users have stuck there because of the implementation of Apple Music and just don't like the new general formats of iOS 9.1 vote

Unfortunately, iOS doesn’t let 3rd party keyboards to access the microphone. If this changes in the future, we’ll certainly get on it!
Swiftkey is related to Microsoft now and they've gotten a huge userbase and success continuously using iOS8. I was hoping this would allow the previous iOS since a lot of people have some older iOS8 devices and many are told not to upgrade for various reasons. Many forum members and I share the same wish. iOS9 is still in a phase right now so many are reluctant to upgrade. Please consider it!1 vote
For a stable keyboard experience, we chose to support iOS9 and above.
This is an iOS system-level issue that we are painfully aware of! Until iOS makes a fix, our hands are tied :(

unfortunately, Apple doesn’t allow 3rd party keyboards to access the microphone. If that ever changes, we’ll get on it!
Instead of automatically switching to the stock keyboard it should be able to use it to input passwords as well1 vote
This is an iOS system-level constraint that prevents any 3rd party keyboard from accessing a password field.
