You can use the navigation mode button at the top and turn on Drag which will allow multi-touch and wheel based zoom. We need to integrate this better with selections to keep it from being modal.

While it still needs to be improved, you can go to settings, 'Data' and turn on nice numbers to get better numbers on the axes.

While not completely worked out, there's a 'Line By' capability in the 'Settings' 'Big bar' tab, which allows items to be connected in scatter plots. We're working on improving that.

This should hopefully be corrected in the next release of the Power BI custom visual...eta soon!

We'd definitely like to improve our palette specification, both in terms of custom palettes, and specific ranges.

    Thanks! We'll explore this further!

We're still working on effective autodetection of number formats. There's a tool available in the 'settings' menu called the 'DataScrubber' (look in the IconBar settings). This allows specifying what format is appropriate for a particular column and you should be able to force that column to be a date format. As a workaround for now, you can additionally force the number of bins for a column with the bin slider at the bottom to be 4.

Problems with CSV files can be for several reasons, the most common of which is when the file is larger than we can currently handle (~100K rows with 20 columns - though that can vary depending on the content). Since no files are ever uploaded, it's hard to diagnose all problems without seeing the file. If you can, email the file to sanddance@microsoft.com and we'll get back to you about the problems. Sometimes, tab separated files parse slightly better than comma separated files, so if you can save your file as a column separated file, try that.

There is currently a limit on the number of rows that a custom visual within Power BI can receive. This will be updated to 30K in the next release of Power BI. The web version can load in many more rows, but there are memory restrictions that limit the size of the files that we can handle. We should be able to handle files with about 100K rows and 20 columns, though that will vary based on the content of the columns. We're working on ways of scaling this higher.

We don't have easy specification of color palettes yet, but there is a way to manually specify a color palette:

There is a feature called “Palettes” that is turned off by default. If you go to “Settings | Icon bar” and click on “Palettes”, then its button will be added to the icon bar.

Once the “Palettes” button has been added to the icon bar, click on the button and it will open the “Palettes panel” where you can EXPORT the standard palettes to your local machine and then customize them with a text editor and then IMPORT it back as a user-defined palette into SandDance.

There’s a bug you will need to work around by:

    - specify the exact name of your custom file (as it resides on your local machine) in “paletteSetName” (in the palette JSON file) – including the case of the letters. Don’t include the path – just the base name (e.g., myCustomPalette.json).

Then, this custom palettes should appear as one of the available custom color palettes in the Color panel.

If you can share the csv file to sanddance@microsoft.com, we might be able to diagnose what the problem is. Thanks!

We've tried this out in both Chrome and Safari on OSX and have had it work, though we haven't done extensive testing on it yet. It needs to have a version of Chrome and Safari with WebGL enabled which comes in more recent versions of OSX.
Unfortunately, it doesn't currently work on IOS, we're still investigating, but it looks like the WebGL implementation is either not there or different on IOS.

The PowerBI version of SandDance should be embeddable, though we haven't yet done extensive testing on it. We DO have an API and we're exploring ways of making that more available so that not only can you embed it in your site, but can adapt the UI as you see fit.

There already is a way to export/print though we're working on improving it. Right now, if you open up the insights bar, you can add your current view as an insight. From the insights bar, you can export data, take a snapshot, save and load insights. We'll try to make that more apparent in the future!
